TOBACCO-FREE PREMIUM REDUCTION
Research has verified that people who smoke or use tobacco products are at a greater risk for illness and, therefore, spend more health care dollars. To offset these increased expenses, Hapag-Lloyd provides a Tobacco-Free Premium Reduction for employees in our medical plans. The current Tobacco-Free Premium Reduction in effect for the 2025 plan year is $69.23 (For All Employees) per pay.
If, on the Tobacco-Free Premium Reduction Affidavit you indicated that, “you are covered under our medical plan and smoke or use tobacco products and are not actively participating in a Hapag-Lloyd approved program to quit”, the Tobacco-Free Premium Reduction will not apply to you. The premium reduction will apply if the employee has notified the Human Resources Department that they have remained “tobacco free” for three consecutive months OR has enrolled in a tobacco cessation program approved by Hapag-Lloyd as appropriate to qualify for the premium reduction.
