BASIC LIFE INSURANCE
Life insurance can help provide for your loved ones if something were to happen to you. Birch provides all regular, full-time employees working a minimum of 30 hours with 1x your annual salary plus $25,000 up to $525,000 in Group Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance. Birch provides this Basic Life Benefit at no cost to you!
LONG-TERM DISABILITY
What would you do if a sickness or injury left you unable to come to work and earn your paycheck? In the event that you become disabled from an injury or sickness, disability income benefits will provide a partial replacement of lost income. Birch provides Long-Term coverage at no cost to you!
VOLUNTARY LIFE INSURANCE
While Birch offers basic life insurance, some employees may want to purchase additional coverage. This is about your personal circumstances. Are you the sole provider for your household? What other expenses do you expect in the future (for example, college tuition for your child)? Depending on your needs, you may want to consider buying voluntary life insurance. With voluntary life insurance, you are responsible for paying the full cost of coverage through payroll deductions. You can purchase coverage for yourself or for your dependents.
Employee: Coverage is available in increments of $10,000 to a maximum of $200,000. Rates are based on age and the amount of coverage elected.
Dependents: Coverage for dependents is available if you elect coverage for yourself, provided the election amount does not exceed your own. Coverage for your spouse is available in increments of $5,000 to a maximum of $50,000. Coverage for your children is available in a flat amount of $10,000 per child up to age 23 (25 if a full-time student).
Please note, during your New Hire Enrollment Period you may elect up to $200,000 without having to complete an Evidence of Insurability (EOI) form. During open enrollment, if you did not elect coverage as a New Hire, you may only elect up to $20,000 without having to complete an EOI form.
