WELCOME TO OPEN ENROLLMENT
For full-time US employees, annual Open Enrollment is the time to make your 2024 benefit selections. Below lists the 2024 changes, actions needed by you and additional resources to help in your decision-making process.
Please Note: This year's Open Enrollment is ACTIVE, meaning that you must take action in Workday if you wish to have benefits in the new year. Enrollments from the current year will NOT carry into 2024.
2024 US BENEFIT CHANGES
MEDICAL PLANS
- We’ll continue to offer our three Medical Plans with Cigna. Plan designs and employee contributions will remain the same.
- Medical ID Cards: Cigna is going green! As of January 1, 2024, ID cards can be accessed through Cigna’s website www.mycigna.com or app. If you currently have a card and not changing your medical plan for 2024, you can keep your physical card.
NEW HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNT (HSA)
- New Vendor: As of January 1, 2024, we are changing our Health Savings Account (HSA) vendor from PayFlex to WEX.
- New HSA Visa Cards: All employees enrolled in a 2024 HDHP Medical Plan will be mailed a new Visa card mid-December.
- How to Transfer Your 2023 HSA Balance to WEX: After Open Enrollment, the Benefits team will provide all 2024 HDHP Medical enrollees instructions on how to transfer their funds. Don’t worry, you’ll have over a month to complete the required sign-off on a transfer of funds from your existing PayFlex account to your new WEX account and we’ll send plenty of reminders to you!
DENTAL PLANS
- Plan Changes: There are still two plans available to select, the High Dental Plan & Low Dental Plan, but we have adjusted the coverages to create more of a distinction between the two.
- Dental ID Cards: Cigna does not issue Dental ID cards. Digital cards can be accessed through Cigna’s website www.mycigna.com or app. New 2024 enrollees, can access their digital Dental ID on January 1, 2024.
LIFE & DISABILITY PLANS
- New Vendor: Prudential will be our new Life & Disability vendor as of January 1, 2024.
- Increase Long-Term Disability Coverage: HL has increased the Company Paid LTD coverage from $15,000 a month to $16,500.
- Increase of Voluntary Life Insurance Offerings: You can now purchase additional Voluntary Life Insurance coverage for you and eligible family members.
SUPPLEMENTAL PLANS (HOSPITAL, CRITICAL ILLNESS, & ACCIDENT)
- New Vendor: Prudential will be our new Supplemental vendor as of January 1, 2024.
- 2024 Costs: The cost for these plans have decreased.
FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS
- 2024 Contribution Limits: The 2024 annual Health Care FSA is $3,200 and the rollover is $640.
PET INSURANCE, LEGAL PROTECTION, & IDENTITY PROTECTION
Pet Insurance with Nationwide, Legal Protection with LegalShield, & Allstate Identity Protection (InfoArmor) will maintain the same rates for 2024 with coverage enhancements.

Step 1: Review the Benefit Offerings and Ask Questions
To ensure you understand all HL’s benefits and select the best options for you and your family, here are additional tools and resources to use this Open Enrollment season.
- ALEX, our online decision support tool
- Materials posted on the Total Rewards site on SharePoint
- Schedule 1-1 time with the Benefits team

Step 2: Make Your 2024 Benefit Selections from November 1st – 16th.
Starting on November 1, 2023, you can make your benefit selections in Workday. For some coverages, you must also enroll on the Carrier’s site:
